I have another story that I think might be appropriate to post to this community as well. It's not a romance, though. This story is a humorous re-working of the fairlytale Rapunzel. It was originally written for a challenge issued by whitemunin on her Live Journal. The story features Filch, McGonagall, Snape, and Arabella Figg. I hope that at least some of you here will find it amusing. :)

Introduction and Linkage [02 Apr 2004|12:04am]

Hi, I'm MinervaFan and I'm new to this community. I write almost exclusively 40+ female characters (being 37 and female, it's a little closer to home for me.)

With your indulgence, here are some of my story links.

Whoa, I got some stuff online, don't I? And almost all of it concerns women of "a certain age."

Thanks For The Memories [01 Apr 2004|09:54pm]

Hi, my name is shadowycat. I joined this community a while ago, and since then I've gotten busy and haven't paid that much attention. The premise seemed very interesting though, and I've been quite impressed with some of the stories listed. I'm a little unclear as to whether you only want links here or whether we could post stories as well that the community members might be interested in reading. So I'm going to take a chance and post the actual story. If that a problem, I'll be happy to remove it and try to substitute a link.

This story is a somewhat humorous pairing of Lupin and McGonagall. It's rated R. Remus Lupin wakes up in an unfamiliar bed next to a very familiar person, but doesn't have the vaguest idea how he got there.

REC: "I Must Not Tell Lies" by Melannen [07 Feb 2004|12:08pm]

pogrebin
There is little for me to say here apart from-- read, definitely read I Must Not Tell Lies by melannen. It's a dark, erotic, strange & beautifully written piece of Umbridge/Ginny. Yes. Exactly. Though this fic's strengths carry it far deeper than shock value. Her Ginny-voice is absolutely spot-on & characrer motivations drawn subtly & effectively. An excellent example of an older woman "getting some", an excellent example of a HP fic period.

Warnings for underage sex, bloodplay, violence.

My fics [06 Feb 2004|10:21am]

Okies, here are all my fics that star a female character over forty years old. I'm including Poppy Pomfrey and Hooch because I see them as either contemporaries of Minerva, or not that much younger than her. So, yus, enjoy!

ETA: Some more fics I couldn't include earlier.

Whew! I hadn't realized how many I'd written. There's at least two more I need to add, but I can't get at the links right now.

Links!

Flourish reminded me to include the links for my Durmstrang Chronicles with my cranky, middle-aged crew of Dark Arts professors and Aurors.

On FictionAlley, my series is split between Schnoogle where "Need", "Pride", "Between the Devil and Durmstrang", "Ticking of the Clock" and "Stacking the Deck" all reside and The Dark Arts where "Teamwork", "Suspicion", "Duty", "The Gift", "Loyal as a Dog" and "The Contract" are housed.

I also have them all on my own website where they are displayed in chronological order. For FA, I have a note with each summary, telling where the story is in the order.

I'm jestana and I've been a Potterholic since summer 2001. My favorite characters, from the start, were McGonagall and Dumbledore. I tried writing fic starring the kids, but most of it was awful. I have one that I kept. The rest I tossed. After those bombed, I decided to try my hand at the adults. I found I had an almost-uncanny ability to write Minerva, which is fine by me! I usually pair her with Albus. I've written one piece starring Molly, and several with Hooch and Poppy (both of whom I see as being the same age as Minerva). My FanFiction.Net profile can be found here. I can post a list of the fics starring the women in particular if you like, just not right now.

I've already recommended fic, but completely neglected to introduce myself. I'm pogrebin and I've been floating around fandom for a shamefully long time. I used to be involved in civilitas where I played Barty Crouch, Sr. to narcissam's very alluring Isabel, both over forty.

Apart from my overly large collection of Tomfic, I've written Walking Shadow, which, while not featuring much in the way of older women "getting some" features Hermione, Harry & co. as over-40.

More relevant to the MK Foundation *self-plugs shamelessly*, however, is Our Lady of Pain, a short story featuring Minerva McGonagall/Dolores Umbridge with implied Minerva/Sibyl. All three very interesting ladies who are older!

I adore rareslash in general, and sadly enough, slash featuring "older generation" women always seems to come under this category. I'm looking forward to the fics, recs & discussion that will emerge from this community-- thankyou Flourish & Arabellafiggy for creating it! :)

What a swell idea for a community!

Rose Jones, le loup de l'ombre, Yuri Gregorov, Siegfried Kessler, Rolf Haken, Ludwig Lowenstein (barely forty, does that count?) and Josef Baldung are all over forty. Siegfried is fifty-two! They're all part of my Durmstrang series. I really enjoy working with middle-aged characters and all of the baggage they carry with them.

Sex is just as hot in your forties as it was in your twenties, hotter probably since you know what you're doing and what does it for you.

And I write older women, and older men, getting it on some.

In "House of Ill Faith," (soon to reside at malfoymadness, Severus and Juliana begin their relationship when she's in her 20's (and he's 16) but in 1995, when she finally gets free from Azkaban, they still have explicit (and really hot) sex. And she's definitely in her 40's. I've also written them having married-people-with-children quickie sex and all kinds of stuff like that.

After Narcissa divorces Lucius, Draco complains that she has more men chasing after him than he does. And I'd rather like to pair Minerva with someone but I haven't decided who. (Alastor Moody also gets his share of teh sexx in HoIF, with a younger man--I write both het and slash and femmeslash in the same universe because y'know, people are straight and gay and everything in between in the universe I live in.)

In Lightningwar lightningwar I write Lady Gabrielle Malfoy, Lucius' mother, who together with her dear female companion Hyacinthe (written by biichan, inhabit tintagel1942.

I should hope sex doesn't stop at 40, because I'm going to BE 40 in four months!

I write honorstudentmum in civilitas, the very desirable Isabel Crouch, who gets all the good sex. Read about her in Civilitas on the Dark Arts, though the fic hasn't got to the good sex yet.
Writing Isabel, who is forty-two, and does the mid-life crisis thing by having an affair with Obliviator Arnold Peasgood, has been heaps of fun. Not only, does she have confidence and experience that a younger woman wouldn't have, she has a history. There are opportunities for *breathes deeply* angst! Or perhaps not quite angst.... One thing the over-forty crowd doesn't do so well is angst. It seems something for bright young things with no taste of life.

Congratulations on a brilliant idea. I'm all for women over 40 in fanfiction, and look forward to sending Narcissa over her as soon as I can persuade her to put down that toyboy and divert a bit of attention from her attempt to mount a one-woman takeover bid for Gringotts.

Fic Rec: A Year In The Life [04 Feb 2004|05:39pm]

friede
copperbadge has written a remarkable Lupin/McGonagall A Year in the Life.

Summary: A different take on history -- see the events of Prisoner of Azkaban through the eyes of Remus Lupin, who is not just a teacher at Hogwarts and a friend of Harry's father, but a man falling in love with the unlikeliest of women. PG-13.

First off-- brilliant idea for a community. It's about damn time.

I thought I'd rec a Sybil/Minerva story that I came across recently while looking through the HP Rareslash archive. To Hell With Your Tea Leaves by Mireille, which has slashy overtones but nothing overt, involving a meeting between the two Professors & a remembrance of things past. A subtle, interesting fic that deals with (in my opinion) the most popular "old lady" HP fandom 'ship.

Welcome one and all to the Mutcher-Koore Foundation! Note my icon (Woolf was one writer who wasn't afraid of the over-40 crowd - love Mrs. Dalloway!)

handful and I will be your friendly mods for the duration.

Every once in a while, we'll make compendium posts of all the fics and/or recs that have been posted - say, every month - and add them to the Memories section. Therefore, we suggest that as soon as you join, you start reccing and ficcing. After all, the community sucks if people aren't going to post to it. :>

Well? What are you waiting for?
